Kolsai Lake, known as the "Pearls of Tien Shan," is a stunning, crystal-clear alpine lake system in southeast Kazakhstan, located about a 4-hour drive from Almaty. Situated at 1,800m, it offers boating, hiking, and horse riding surrounded by spruce forests. The area is best visited via organized 1–3 day tours from Almaty, which often include the nearby sunken forest of Lake Kaindy and the scenic Charyn Canyon.
Almaty a city of historic Kazakh artifacts. In the center is Panfilov Park, home to the bright-yellow towers of Zenkov Cathedral, a tsarist-era Russian Orthodox church.
